All employees must accept these terms before accessing The Village.
The Village Terms of Use
Please read both the following Terms of Use as well as The Village Guidelines carefully. By accessing The Village, you acknowledge your agreement with and understanding of these terms of use and The Village Guidelines. Do not access The Village if you do not accept the Terms of Use and the Guidelines.
- Purpose. I am using The Village for business collaboration and to connect, share, discuss, build and comment in order to create and maintain a climate of collaboration and trust within Chubb.
- My personal information: By accessing The Village I am to the extent required by law hereby authorizing Chubb to post my name and Chubb office contact information to The Village. I am electing of my own free will to post certain additional information on The Village site, and understand that such information may include personal information about me that I have voluntarily decided to share in order to enable my coworkers to get to know me better. I am authorizing access by all other members of The Village and by Chubb to any personal information I have chosen to post to my profile area or any other public area in The Village, and I understand and agree that the information may be hosted or stored by Chubb or a third-party vendor in a location outside of my country. I understand that I must not post or upload any personally identifiable information about myself or any other person on The Village that might facilitate identity theft or similar crimes; this includes any combination of a home address, social security number, date of birth, driver’s license number, credit card numbers, and similar information.
- Applicability of Chubb policies. I understand that all Chubb rules governing business and personal conduct which apply to me also apply to my conduct in The Village. I understand that my failure to follow these rules while participating in The Village may result in my denial of access to the site, and/or lead to appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination of my employment, if warranted. I will direct any questions about the specific applicability of these rules to my manager, assigned legal counsel, regional compliance officer or Chubb Global Compliance. Additionally, I will seek guidance from my manager, assigned legal counsel, compliance officer, or Chubb Communications whenever I have doubts about whether posting content on The Village is appropriate.
- Responsibilities of group members and owners. By joining a group, I understand that I will be responsible for reporting behavior I consider inappropriate to the group owner or to Chubb Communications. When I form a discussion or other group or am otherwise designated as a group owner, I am aware that, in addition to fostering group participation and my responsibilities as a group member, I will be responsible for managing access rights and supervising content and group etiquette.
- Treatment of confidential information. I will share Chubb or client confidential information only in restricted groups and always with the consent of the group owner(s) or whoever controls access to the group; in addition, I will not share any personally identifiable information of consumers or other individual clients, such as citizen ID numbers or similar information, even in restricted groups. I will not share information in any way which would violate confidentiality requirements or which would identify individual consumers in unrestricted areas of The Village.
- Records Management. I acknowledge that The Village is intended primarily for business social purposes and not as a substitute for Chubb’s formal business applications. Therefore, I will ensure that any official business records for which I am responsible under applicable Chubb record management policies will be maintained in the appropriate files or repositories of my business applications.
- eDiscovery. I am aware and agree that any electronic information relating to my use of The Village, including my personal data, may be used by Chubb and/or furnished to third parties in strict compliance with applicable law if needed in connection with a dispute resolution proceeding.
- Content license. By posting materials (my “Content”) on The Village, I am (to the extent permitted by applicable law) granting Chubb a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and worldwide license to use my Content in The Village and elsewhere within Chubb, including, without limitation, the license rights to copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat my Content, and/or to incorporate it into a collective work. This license does not extend to personal information about me that I elect to post to The Village. However, to the extent permitted by applicable law, I grant Chubb permission to use my name for attribution purposes when publicly displaying, reproducing or distributing copies of my Content. By posting content on The Village, I warrant and represent that I either own or otherwise control any of the rights to that Content necessary for me to provide, post, upload, input or submit that Content, or that my use of the Content is a protected fair use.
- Content removal by Chubb. I acknowledge that Chubb does not pre-screen or regularly review posted content, but that Chubb shall have the right to remove in its sole discretion any content that it considers to violate these Terms or the Chubb Code of Conduct or applicable law. I understand that, whenever possible, Chubb will notify me regarding its decision and reasons for deciding to remove such content.
